{"id":1723,"date":"2011-09-26T13:35:17","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T18:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasemccarty.com\/blog\/?p=1723"},"modified":"2012-12-30T14:51:30","modified_gmt":"2012-12-30T20:51:30","slug":"emc-vspecialist-vlabs-more-in-baton-rouge-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasemccarty.com\/blog\/emc-vspecialist-vlabs-more-in-baton-rouge-la\/","title":{"rendered":"EMC vSpecialist vLabs (&#038; more) &#8211; in Baton Rouge, LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasemccarty.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vlabs-logo-thumb1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1724\" title=\"EMC vSpecialist vLabs\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jasemccarty.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vlabs-logo-thumb1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>For those that went to Las Vegas for either EMC World 2011 or VMworld 2011, there were opportunities to give EMC gear a test drive using the EMC vSpecialist vLabs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bigger Conferences<\/strong><br \/>\nBigger conferences often last the better part of a week, and are most often far away from home, unless you work in the same area that the conference is being held.<\/p>\n<p>These bigger venues are often picked because of space, and being able to accommodate thousands upon thousands of attendees.<\/p>\n<p>From an attendee perspective, bigger conferences can have quite a few hurdles to overcome, before a boss will allow you to go.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Registration Fee<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Time<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Accommodations<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Transportation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Something Local<\/strong><br \/>\nFor those that were not fortunate enough to get the opportunity to go to EMC World or VMworld, and you are near Baton Rouge, LA, you are in luck.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Wednesday October 5th, through Friday October 7th, <strong><a title=\"Transformyx\" href=\"http:\/\/www.transformyx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Transformyx<\/a><\/strong> is hosting the <strong><a title=\"TechX 2011 Conference &amp; Expo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.TechX2011.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TechX 2011 Conference &amp; Expo<\/a><\/strong> in Baton Rouge, LA.<\/p>\n<p>If you are local to the Baton Rouge area, Tech X 2011 overcomes several of the hurdles I mentioned before.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Registration Fee <\/strong>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NONE, it is free<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Time <\/strong>&#8211; Come <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all 3 days<\/span>, or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only a single day<\/span> &#8211; Only have a single day to get away, no problem.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accommodations <\/strong>&#8211; 3 hotel partners have rates from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$109-169 a night<\/span> (if you aren&#8217;t local)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transportation<\/strong> &#8211; Hotels are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">within waking distance <\/span>(very close) to the Baton Rouge River Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pretty cheap for some jam packed content, exhibitors, <strong>&amp; EMC vLabs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EMC vSpecialist vLabs<\/strong><br \/>\nAt EMC World 2011, as well as at VMworld 2011, the EMC vLabs were a huge success.\u00a0 With the EMC vLabs, you have the ability to try out different offerings from EMC, like the VNX, VNXe, Avamar, Isilon, the Virtual Storage Integrator, RSA, &amp; more.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as I get a complete list of the labs, I will post them here.<\/p>\n<p>Updated: List of vLabs available<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ATMOS<\/li>\n<li>Avamar<\/li>\n<li>Isilon<\/li>\n<li>RSA Archer<\/li>\n<li>UIM 2.1<\/li>\n<li>VAAI<\/li>\n<li>VMAX<\/li>\n<li>VNX<\/li>\n<li>VNXe<\/li>\n<li>VPLEX<\/li>\n<li>Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) Plugin for VMware vCenter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Virtualization Experts<\/strong><br \/>\nWait, there&#8217;s more, <strong><a title=\"Wade O'Harrow\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/wadeoharrow\" target=\"_blank\">Wade O&#8217;Harrow<\/a><\/strong>, EMC Global Director of vSpecialists, will be presenting the Thursday Keynote.<\/p>\n<p>Also, <strong><a title=\"Jon Owings\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/Jon_2vcps\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Owings<\/a><\/strong>, Commercial Sr. vSpecialist, will be presenting Wednesday afternoon on using VMware View on the EMC VNXe. The VNXe is a new storage offering this year that works well in SMB and ROBO environments at an attractive price.
